About Scrubs
Where friendship & colleagues meet and a love of singing come together.
Scrubs is the workplace choir of Cork University Hospital (CUH) and Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH), formed in 2015. What began as a group of colleagues coming together to sing has grown into a vibrant community of around 60 current and former staff from across all sectors of the hospitals.
For us, Scrubs is about much more than singing. Over the years, we have created a strong sense of community and friendship, becoming a family through our shared love of music. Every Tuesday evening, from 5pm to 7pm, we come together for rehearsals, leaving the working week behind and sharing two hours of music, laughter and friendship.
Our repertoire is as varied as our members, ranging from contemporary favourites and classic choral pieces to uplifting gospel songs. We love performing and sharing our music with audiences, whether on the concert stage, at festivals or on television.
Scrubs has enjoyed some incredible experiences over the years. We have represented Cork internationally at choral festivals in Vienna (2018) and Rome (2024), as well as travelling closer to home to Derry in 2025. We have performed on Britain's Got Talent, appeared on the Maura & Dáithí Show, and in December 2025 had the privilege of performing in the Cork Opera House Christmas concerts.
Competition has also been a big part of our journey. Scrubs has won the Cork International Choral Festival twice and finished second in 2025. We also proudly compete in Feis Maitiú each year.
But while the performances, festivals and competitions are memorable, what matters most to us is the people. Scrubs is a place where colleagues become friends, friends become family, and everyone can come together through the joy of singing.
We are Scrubs — a choir, a community, and a family united through song.
